Nothing but improve

So I was looking at my past AAU figure drawings and was amazed by how far I've come. Here are some pictures to prove it.
The first figure drawings I did in the Academy. Did this one in Analysis of Form (last fall). 20min with vine charcoal on newsprint. You can see the ghost of another drawing threw it.
This is what I've been drawing lately. It's a mix of Intro to Anatomy and Clothed Figure Drawing.
10. min

20. min
Got a little lost in the skirt here

And 40min.
Still have a long way to go but I'm getting there.

Some stuff

I know I said I would update here more often it's just a lot has been going on (lame excuse) so I haven't. However, here are a few pictures that might make up for it.
Back when Chelsea and I went to see the Room and met Tommy Wiseau and the guy who plays Mark, Greg Sestero
My room! Now with a bed, a desk and a chair. I finally got a ride to Ikea with some of my friends so I was able to put the bed together.
A really cute bike that I saw the other day. Sometimes I wish I had a bike but then I remember I live in San Francisco.
And last, but not least: Spider. The little guy wanted to hang out on my bed, took a video of him being all cute. Yes, that weird breathing sound is me trying not to laugh.
I recorded the video on my phone so sorry about the quality. But I kind of like the grungeness of it though.

Spider

Guess what? I actually got a cat!
I've wanted to adopt a cat for years now. Yesterday, Eileen, Chelsea and I went to see this lady who runs a rescue center near Dolores Park. http://www.savinggracerescue.com/
I had already seen an ad for one of her cats, Spider. He looked beautiful and not too crazy.
When we finally got there there were a few cats to choose from, most of them kittens but I had decided a long time ago I rather adopt at least 1 year old cat because it made more sense to me. Kittens are adorable but they need a lot of attention and care and they grow into adults pretty fast. Also, you definitely know a adults personality is like.
So, Spider is a 3. year old tappy/siamese cat with the most beautiful blue eyes. His previous owners lost their home and had to give him up. He's been pretty shy and is currently hiding under Chelsea's bed. We did get a picture of him yesterday though.
He is so sweet though. We can already tell that he is very easy going and he hasn't made that big of a fuzz living in a new home. When he gets more comfortable he is going to be hugged, loved and cared for by all three of us. It's going to be so awesome.

Bedroom news

All right. Fall semester starts tomorrow and I've been working on getting everything ready.
My part of the room still needs some organization in order for me to function properly in it but I just need few things in order to make it work.
I found this really nice table on Craiglist last Monday and bought it yesterday for $60. It is a drafting table that you can adjust to your artistic needs. It is made out of wood and is very pretty even though it has a little bit of paint and scratches on it. Something I hope to fix. We had to disassemble it in order to carry it; a few blocks in the Mission to BART and then from Powell to our apartment. It's quite the distance on foot but thankfully Chelsea and Eileen were amazing helpers.
Here is a picture of the room right now. I haven't put the desk back together because I haven't been able to clear up the space yet.
This morning I also found a chair on Craiglist for only $10. Most of the chairs I have been seeing have just been crappy, ugly and much more pricey. When I called the guy he said he would deliver it to me for extra $10. That's probably what I would normally spend on Bart getting the chair so I was very happy.
Here is a picture of it. Isn't it beautiful? I'm going to find a nice cushion to sit on. Maybe I'll be crafty and sow one myself if I won't find anything.
The only other things I'm really missing from my room now are a desk lamp and new bedsides. The bedsides. Man, has that been an adventure. I won't bore you with the details but on my last visit to Ikea I accidentally bought the wrong bed side (yeah, apparently it doesn't always come with the bed). If I somehow get back to Ikea, it will be my fourth visit there in which every time I've had to buy something for the bed. For now, I'm sleeping on my mattress but having a bed will solve some storage issues so I really need to get that in order.

Let's try again

Hi everyone.
I've decided to try to devote myself to this blog more than I have because I feel like there is so much I want to share with whoever bothers with reading things I write."But Sandra, why are you writing in English?". Well, last winter I met a lot of awesome people and I am hoping to run into more awesome people in the future. Since I live in America, changes are they will not all be able to read Icelandic. Plus, I might use this site as an artblog too alongside, my room decoration, cooking and my view on life.
Sorry mom and dad, you're just going to have to read about my days in English.
So, intro into my life is appropriate I guess. My name is Sandra, I'm from a magic island, located in the North Atlantic, named by the ancient vikings as Iceland. Is that dramatic enough for ya?
But all was not right in the world because I always yearned for something more. That is why I moved across the globe to attend university. In San Francisco California to be exact. There I attend the Academy of Art University and will be starting my second year there this semester.
I'm majoring in 2D animation (Bachelor Degree) but I hope to someday work as a Character Designer for a big company like Disney.
Place of living is in Nob Hill right in the heart of San Francisco. I share an aparment with two of my best friends, Eileen and Chelsea. Eileen and I share one of the two bedrooms. It's a really nice place. Here are some pictures from last spring when Chelsea and me moved in:

This is my room, it has probably changed the most because we are now two in it.

The closet to the bathroom and then the bathroom. We found that bookcase right around the corner
from our apartment. The sidewalk, your very own free shopping center.

Then the
kitchen, which isn't
normally this messy *cough*. We got a new stove, microwave, hardly used refrigerator AND a dishwasher with the apartment. Score!

A little peak into Chelsea's room.

But that's enough information about me for now. I'm going to upload my newest pictures and finds soon.

25.feb
